How do you get shots like these?
I'm new to a Canon Rebel T3. I'm just learning how to use the manual features like focus white balance etc. and I'm wondering if there's any advice you could give because I see your on foot shots all around and they're pretty good.
Obviously you're using the self timer but how do you get things in focus and get angling how you want it without looking through the lens? Is there a specific way to set up shots like these?
Any advice or help would be much appreciated and anyone else who'd like to step in and advise is welcome. Thanks in advance!
When I first started off taking WDYWT photos, I used multiple items to be a stand for my camera. eventually the best look was using a thick notebook. depending on your lens, you would have to step back a foot or so from the camera at a position you would like. i use a d300s with a 28mm but the d300s is a crop so the conversion distance would actually be 45 mm. I would turn on live view and from where you are try to reach the release button and pressing it half way to auto focus hoping that it focused on your shoes or anything that you are taking. alternative for me at times would be placing the shoes already placed in the shot and I would go to the camera to focus it myself. when in focused already through the live view, i would put my shoes back on and try to have the same position that I had them before. From there I just use the release button and wait for the countdown to be done. I may be easier for me because I'm 6 feet tall but have a long enough timer so you can reposition yourself for the shot. I hope this helps bro.
